Purple Heart Poem

THE COMBAT VETERAN

We have served in all of America's Armed Forces...
They will find our names in the annals of the United States Military.
We fought the armed conflicts against hostile enemies...
Whether it be a combat action, on land, in the air, or on the seas.
We're the ones who stand tall, accepted our fate and put our lives on the line for what America stands for...
Our forefathers were the minutemen, the soldiers who crossed the Delaware and fought the Hessians, on that cold Christmas Eve, so many years ago...
We struggled on both sides of the Civil War, to keep America strong under one flag...
We come from all walks of life, with no political agenda...
We hail from families all across this great nation...
We're America's finest men and women...
We have paid the high price for our precious freedoms that so many take for granted...
We stand in strength, from the highest ranking military commander to the lowest enlisted personnel...
We do not recognize color, religion or nationality, we're all equal in our eyes...
Some of us go to glory; others have died as well...
We all have prayed for God to save our soul from Hell, for the horrible task that awaits the combat veteran...
We have always answered our country's solemn call...
Keep America in our hearts and forever free.
