Welcome to the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 700 website. We're so glad you stopped by. Click on the links to the left to see what we've been up to!
We are a proud organization of Combat Wounded veterans. We also have Associate Members (blood-line relative of a Purple Heart recipient), and volunteers.
Our chapter goals are to help our fellow veterans in any way that we can. Our main goal each year is to provide Christmas gifts to approximately 240 veterans who are living in the 20 nursing homes throughout Hunterdon and Warren counties. In 2014, we are looking at a new goal -- to provide assistance to familes that are in need, due to the hardship of a family member serving in our armed forces. We will continue to participate in local educational events at our schools and colleges, we will place flowers and flags on our deceased member's graves, and we will take part in area holiday ceremonies and parades.
It is not easy for our chapter to handle these activities, but we do, and we do it with pride and dedication.
We do receive some money from our State Organization, but we must raise the remaining funds for our goals on our own, through local fund drives. This would include local farmers fairs in both Hunterdon and Warren counties, can shakes at local grocery stores and our annual can shake at the Phillipsburg Mall. All of the money received via donations goes back to our veterans, with the exception of a few expenses we incur (i.e., insurance).
If you are a Purple Heart recipient or know of one in our area who would like to join our chapter, please call Commander Ron Adams at 908-329-0010. Also, if you would like to join as an Associate Member or volunteer, please don't hesitate to call.
